David R. Morrell, 87, passed away June 14, 2014, in Wenatchee, WA. He was born to George D. and Eva C. (Reese) Morrell in Ford, WA on December 3, 1927. In 1933, he and his family settled in Ardenvoir, WA. He attended Ardenvoir Grade School and Entiat High School, graduating in 1944. Following graduation, David joined the U.S. Navy as a radio operator and served from 1944 through 1946, stationed in the Philippines. David returned to Ardenvoir and worked at the C.A. Harris Mill. David also designed Morrell Planters, a hanging planter made of pine, fir or cedar scraps that he and his kids built and sold to the Ernst/Malmo store chain in the Seattle area. David married Ruby M. Rossing on November 10, 1973, in Entiat. In 1976, David and Ruby moved from the Entiat Valley to Aberdeen, WA, where Dave worked at Mary's River Mill until he retired. After retirement, David and Ruby spent their winters in Yuma, AZ with many of their lifelong friends. In 2011, David and Ruby moved back to Wenatchee to be closer to family. David will be remembered as a very friendly, funny, loving and caring man and will be greatly missed.
