Janice E. Laine

Janice E. Haymes was born in Everett, WA to Lucille Ferguson and later adopted by Wayne Rosekrans.
She received her BA in Speech Pathology, Language Arts, and Early Childhood Education in 1958 from Eastern Washington University and began her teaching career in Hayward, CA. Her proudest moment was receiving "State of California Teacher of the Year" award and becoming Director of Special Education. She continued her education journey and received her MA degrees in Education of Exceptional Children with a focus on Administration of Special Education and Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing including Speech and Audiology along with Counseling, Psychology in Individual and Group Therapy, Personality Theory, Vocational Counseling, and Behavioral Management. Jan went on to get her Ed.D. in Education Psychology and Early Childhood Development at University of California, Berkeley. With her degree in hand, she became Research Project Director and Assistant Professor of Education at UCLA.
To continue her passion of working with children, Jan's journey took her to Central California State Diagnostic Center for the Neurologically Handicapped Children in Fresno, CA where she was Superintendent/Director and trained at Pacific Coast Church of Monterey, CA and ordained as a Minister. .
A cutting edge and innovative thinker, Jan started her own business providing Management Training serving education, health, mental health, business and government which took her all over the world and she became a world traveler.
Recent years would find Jan as an Executive Director for Su Casa in Long Beach, CA, a nonprofit agency working to end domestic violence where she was able to secure a grant to purchase and rehab a new shelter and rehab a second shelter for survivors of domestic violence and their children.
Jan was a spiritual woman; she would spend hours reading many different spiritual books. In her spare time, she volunteered at The Tree of Life Ministry and The Crystal Cathedral as an Elder. Jan enjoyed learning, reading, and traveling around the world.
During Jan's last few months Patty O'Sullivan, of San Jose, was the family's eyes and ears. She attended doctor appointments and continued regular visits until the last hours. Jan's sisters, Reita and Sara are eternally grateful to Patty for her love and compassion.
Jan is preceded in death by her parents Lucille and Wayne Rosekrans.
Jan is survived by sisters, Reita Wood (husband Paul), and Sara Christensen (husband Jim), aunt Alma Lee Mitchell, uncle Virgil Ferguson (both on her mother's side), nephew Michael Wood, niece Amy Wood (finance' Charise Sargent), niece Cora Mikkelsen (husband Thomas), nephew Asa Christensen (wife Vanessa), great niece Kjerstin, great nephew Kyle, great nephew Magnus, and many cousins.
Services are pending.
